Shakespeare in Schools Festival November 2018
In November 2018 Year 10 pupils took part in the annual ‘Shakespeare in Schools Festival’ the world’s largest youth drama festival, which includes up to 30,000 participants, 1000 schools and 136 theatres.
The annual event is the Shakespeare Schools Foundation’s flagship project which uses the power of performance to develop self-esteem, articulacy, literacy and teamwork; skills that transform lives.
The College performance of ‘The Tempest’ involved 28 actors, musicians and backstage crew who performed to an audience of 300. For most of the pupils it was the first time they had performed in a professional theatre, and in front of so many people. It was a truly fantastic experience which they will never forget.
