Tag Rugby Success!
Twenty-six teams took part in the North Devon Small Schools Tag Rugby Tournament in Barnstaple on Tuesday 23rd May. Lapford A and Lapford B both played with great spirit and showed off their tagging and passing skills to get past ten teams and into the top 16. Lapford Bs had a couple of unlucky decisons over tries and unfortunately got knocked out at this stage but should be incredibly proud of their team spirit and defence they put up against teams that were sometimes made up of all year 6s and year 5s.
Lapford As got through the play offs and through to the final after a brilliantly played semi-final match which showed off their tagging skills and also involved several speedily run tries! In the final they were narrowly beaten by North Molton after a tense and close fought match against a team which again was mostly year 5s and 6s! Jamie Crump was named Best Boy of the tournament - mainly due to some spectacular tries in the semi-final! Both teams showed great sportsmanship and did the school proud. Our thanks to Rich for all the hard work training both teams and to the parents who helped support on the day.
