New arrival for the New Year!

First lamb is an unexpected surprise

On the second day of term, Wednesday 6th January, the year 10 ELBS (Environmental and Land Based Studies) group went down to the school farm to clean out and weigh the pigs and were surprised to find that one of our ewes gave birth, a week earlier than expected, to a large, healthy ewe lamb.

Our new arrival, Gabby, is a little special being the first of a third generation of lambs in our small flock.  She is the daughter of Angel, who is the daughter of Susie, who was one of our original 7 sheep.  Gabby may even be the first lamb born in Chulmleigh parish in 2016and BBC Local Live Devon and Cornwall have used her picture for their banner.

We are expecting another 10 lambs over the next few weeks and hoping that each one will be as trouble free and healthy as the first.
