Year 2 and 5 had an excellent visit to Chulmleigh Primary School on Wednesday for a Staying Safe Day, which was presented by the Fire Service.
They learned about what to do if a fire broke out in their house - GET OUT, STAY OUT and CALL 999; how to test fire alarms every week, WHICH IS MOST IMPORTANT; to STOP, DROP and ROLL if their clothes should catch alight and NEVER to make prank calls. It can cost lives!
There was lots of other useful information, such as adults having their mobile phone nearby when asleep at night; putting blankets at the bottom of the door to prevent smoke getting in; checking the door handle for heat with the BACK of your hand.
A super and very useful trip for the children and a big thank you to our Fire Service for visiting.
