On Monday the children spent all day in the hall, thankfully not due to a fire in the fuse-box this time but learning all about how to be brilliant First Aiders!
We welcomed Sue Ayre from St John Ambulance who spent the day with us. The day began by Sue teaching us that communication is one of the most important skills when giving First Aid and the children did several activities to help them develop this. Then we learnt what to do if someone is choking and how to perform the Heimlick manoeuver. After lunch came the bandaging and putting each other into the Recovery position which they all did to perfection! It was a tremendous day and all the children have now got a certificate to prove their competence in the delivery of First Aid – let’s hope they never have to put this into practice!
