New topic for Class two

This term, Class 2 will be focusing on the news. The children will be researching the kind of news that appears in a variety of media, such as print, TV and the Internet.

They will be classifying news stories and understanding what is actually news worthy! They also will be writing their own newspaper reports and creating their own newspaper as a team!

ICT will play a strong role in publishing some of their work, together with continuing programming skills. As news is worldwide, the children will be discovering what happens globally and begin to understand why certain news comes from certain places.

Art will also support their news work, by looking at graphics used in advertising and how photography can be manipulated to give a desired effect – the use of black and white and how filtering can alter the detail of the image.

In PE, we will be practising our tag rugby skills in preparation for year 4, 5 and 6 taking part in our annual Tag Rugby Festival at Barnstaple Rugby Club, together with cricket and some athletics

It should be a fun filled and busy term. So watch out for what’s going on!
