Burrington Church of England Primary School is a 2 teacher school in the small village of Burrington, situated above the Taw Valley, approximately 3 miles from the small town of Chulmleigh. It is situated in a beautiful rural area. Burrington Primary School is a Church of England School in the Diocese of Exeter. It is very well regarded in the local community, many of whom support it through volunteer work at the school or support for school-based activities.
The children are at the heart of all that we do. The school’s partnership with parents, carers, the wider community and other support agencies forms the foundations for the “scaffolding” that will support each child’s learning. The stronger the foundations, the more effective the scaffolding. We believe that the relationship between the school, family and the community are vitally important to the child’s health, wellbeing and academic achievement.
We like to think of our school as “the small school with the big ideas!’’ We can offer the very best of both worlds: small classes and a warm family atmosphere where every child feels safe and nurtured, and a learning environment equipped with the latest ICT resources and teachers who “go the extra mile” to ensure that the curriculum is engaging and motivating. We know that if children enjoy what they are doing, they will learn and make great progress…..and great progress is one of the things we do particularly well. We are really proud of the high levels of attainment, and particularly good rates of pupil progress.
As a school we know that academic progress is not the only important measure. We are particularly proud of the exceptional behaviour of our children, behaviour which enables them to work cooperatively with each other, regardless of age. Burrington children are well prepared for their next steps to secondary education, full of confidence that comes from a secure and rigorous start to their educational journey.
Why not come and see for yourself? We would be delighted to show you our lovely school: just ring to make an appointment.
With best wishes, Tracey Dodd
