The Art department at Chulmleigh Community College aims to encourage all artistic disciplines and abilities, by creating a stimulating and exciting working environment and teaching an eclectic range of skills in lesson time and in art club. The department promotes independent learning and encourages students emerging individual artistic styles and interests.
In years 7, 8 and 9 students will spend one term studying a fine artist, one term studying art from a different culture and one term studying a practitioner or artistic career area. Students will learn to use a wide range of materials in this time, from ceramics to photography to printmaking with drawing always at the core of each project.
For GCSE pupils study the AQA Unendorsed Art and Design specification. Again students explore all artistic disciplines to develop an individual portfolio of work.
Year 11 GCSE Art and Design students display their work at an annual Art and Technology Exhibition. This is held at the College and usually takes place in June or July.
