Staff across the Trust's Primaries champion their subject area, often their area of specialism, and develop, monitor and evaluate its implementation. Where possible the work is based on first-hand experience and investigation. We find that children are highly motivated by this approach and work at a very high standard as a result. From their very first day at school children are encouraged to develop the skills of independent learning.

At Lapford Primary School, we offer termly 'Open Mornings', where parents are invited to spend the morning in the classrooms with their children to experience typical lessons. These are offered in Mathematics, English and Science. Our classrooms are also open to parents every Friday morning, so that parents and children can share and enjoy books together. Each term we offer a parent-teacher meeting, where parents can find out more about the curriculum and receive feedback on their child's progress.

As classes are structured with two year groups in each, Lapford Primary School teach using a planned rolling-programme, which covers a range of topics across the curricular subjects.
