French

“With languages, you are at home anywhere.”  - Edward De Waal

What makes French excellent at Chulmleigh?

As a department we are passionate about French and aim to foster a lifelong love of languages as pupils learn about the language and culture of the French speaking world.

The KS3 schemes of work are based on Dynamo 1, 2 and 3 for French with regular opportunities to develop skills in Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing and Translation.

At GCSE pupils follow the Edexcel Studio course as well as a range of additional resources and language-learning websites. Pupils develop confidence and proficiency in Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing and Translation skills.

The department enjoys excellent results at GCSE. The recent results were the best results in the Southwest.
