2023 Admissions - Key Dates
Admissions for all schools are via Devon County Council's School Admissions service, please visit here for more information on how to apply.
Admission to Secondary School Year 7 starting September 2023
The application system to apply for Year 7 in September 2023 opened on 1st September 2022 and closed on 31st October 2022. You can apply after this date, but applications will then be considered 'late' and may be at a disadvantage. Please visit the DCC 'Late Applicants’ link here for more information. Your child's school place offer will be emailed to you by Devon County Council on 1st March 2023.
If you cannot apply online, please contact the Education helpline on 0345 155 1019 and ask for a paper copy of the form to be sent to you. Please note that it is not possible to make an application by email.

School Admissions Consultation 2024/2025
Devon’s annual consultation on School Admission Arrangements 2024/2025 closed on Friday 6 January 2023.
Details of the consultation are at Admissions, transport and relevant areas consultation – Education and Families (devon.gov.uk)
All responses will be shared with schools and considered. A report will be presented to Devon County Council’s Cabinet meeting on Friday 10 February 2023 for determination including the individual admission policies for community and voluntary controlled schools.

The consultation includes the co-ordinated admissions schemes for the LA, the education transport policy and relevant areas for admissions purposes.
It also includes the individual school policies for all state-funded, mainstream schools within Devon and the academies in neighbouring LA areas listed below.

Impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) on school admission appeals
The government has issued new legislation and Regulations around how school admission appeals will now be conducted, called the School Admissions (England) (Coronavirus) (Appeals Arrangements) (Amendment) Regulations 2021.
Part of the new Regulations disapply the requirement that appeals panels must be held in person and instead give flexibility for panel hearings to take place either by video conference, telephone or through a paper-based appeal where all parties can make representations in writing.
The Regulations also stipulate that appeals cannot be delayed or postponed until they can be heard face-to-face. As a result, Devon’s Independent Appeals Panel Service will continue to offer appeals via video conferencing facilities.
